East Fork

To deepen customer interaction within a retail environment, this project explores unique strategies that transform the store from a passive shopping space into an immersive and participatory experience. The design encourages visitors to engage with the brand through touch, personalization, and discovery.

Project Scope

Process

I began the design process by studying East Fork’s signature aesthetic. Their retail locations are warm, minimalistic, as well as colorful and inviting. Inspired by the circular shapes of their pottery, I incorporated rounded built-ins to create a unified space rather than relying on freestanding shelving.

To deepen customer engagement, the design includes a customization area where visitors can choose a unglazed piece of pottery, such as a mug, bowl, or plate, and the go on to select their preferred glazes. The customer could then schedule a time to later pick up their customized piece(s). This interactive process connects customers directly to East Fork’s craft and makes each visit feel personal.
