James and The Giant Peach
Working as a team, we executed the fabrication and installation of a large-scale window inspired by Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach.

Process
This project reimagines an iconic scene from James and the Giant Peach. My initial sketch displays a large peach framed between two twisting, stylized trees, inspired by the film’s claymation aesthetic. A bite shape in the peach creates a window into a key scene between James and Miss Spider inside the Peach.
The trees were CNC cut and sculpted further using chicken wire, spray foam, and foam noodles to achieve the signature swirling texture. The forms were finished with layers of paper mâché, then painted a base brown color. I went in and added more shading, highlights, and made leaves to pair with the smaller peaches that are seen hanging on each tree.
The peach structure consists of multiple ribs supporting chicken wire and polyester filling to achieve the rounded form. It was wrapped in velvet spandex and I then created a gradient using layers of yellow and red to create a peachy tone. The peach interior was shaped with chicken wire and plaster strips, then painted a deep brown to emulate the inside of the fruit. I created a sculptural wire spiderweb, wrapped and shaped to reflect the web created by Miss Spider.
